CR's Take

The Miele Triflex HX2 shares many similarities with the Miele Triflex HX1 Facelift SMUL1, with the main differences being the slightly longer run times for the Facelfit SMUL1 in CR's tests. Both models boast powerful performance on bare floors, carpets, pet hair and edges, but they tend to push larger debris around. They also offer the flexibility to adjust the placement of the bin, either at the top or bottom of the vacuum, the vacuums will stand on their own with the bin configured on the bottom. They also have a mechanism for cleaning the filter without removing the dust bin. Our testers found the bin removal process inconvenient, as it requires twisting and turning to empty and reattach. There is a learning curve to twisting the top of the bin just far enough not to accidentally open the bottom flap of the bin. Our testers felt that the design flaws of the bin removal system diminished the appeal of the vacuums. The battery for the HX2 runs for approximately 23 minutes on low and about 14 minutes on high settings based on CR's tests.
