CR's Take

The Bosch 800 Series SHX78CM5N takes about 155 minutes to run a normal cycle and does a very good job overall of removing stubborn messes, such as baked-on food. It has a sensor that monitors conditions during the cycle and automatically adjusts settings for more efficient cleaning. Most items come out of this dishwasher fairly dry, with only minor leftover moisture and little need for manual drying. It is very quiet throughout the cycle and is well-suited for open floor plans. For ease of use, we value clear interfaces, flexible loading options, and convenient features, and this dishwasher does a solid job. It has a third rack, an adjustable upper rack, adjustable tines on the upper rack, and adjustable tines on the lower rack. It has a delay start feature in the app. It's operated using hidden controls on the top of the door and can also be controlled wirelessly from a smartphone. Its energy efficiency is very good, costing about $78 per year to run.
